Scents I Hear is an audio-first travel and culture project created by Jeni.
It explores place through sound, scent, touch, movement, temperature, and human connection—rather than sight.
It’s travel as orientation: grounded, curious, and built for attentive listening.
Why This Exists
Most travel media is designed for the eyes. This work is designed for the body.
Scents I Hear exists because the world stays vivid through sound, timing, texture, air, movement, and the quality of human help. A place is a rhythm. A floor pattern. A doorway draft. A crowd tone. A voice that guides you cleanly through a moment.
This project gathers those signals and turns them into stories—and tools you can reuse.
What You’ll Find Here
The Episodes
Long-form audio storytelling that enters a place through lived sensory experience: arrival sounds, surfaces and textures, air and scent, movement and orientation, human encounters, and a defining moment that lingers.
The VOR Framework
VOR (Verify · Orient · Respond) is my sensory-first travel framework for moving through unfamiliar environments with calm, clarity, and momentum—especially when plans change. It uses simple check-ins, clear questions (“Ask Scripts”), and practical route cards that make the next step obvious.
Studio Tools
The Studio is where the story layer becomes a practical layer: simple tools that support independent travel and everyday navigation for blind and low-vision travelers—built to be usable in real places, under real time pressure.
About Jeni

I’m Jeni—a blind traveler, storyteller, and builder.
I create audio-first work because it matches how I actually move through the world: through sound, timing, texture, and the small signals most people overlook. I’m interested in the felt reality of a place—not just the visuals.
Scents I Hear is where I publish the stories, and where I turn the lessons of movement into frameworks other people can reuse—steadily, clearly, and with dignity.
Guiding Principles
- Sensory-first, not image-first
- Practical calm: fewer spirals, more next-step clarity
- Human handoffs that work: what to ask, when, and how
- Respectful storytelling: no spectacle, no flattening
- Accessible by design: clean structure, audio-forward
